Just dashes

Received some new decals like coolant-decal, jack-decal and a set of dash-decals yesterday. My dad dyed the original dashpad to a lightish blue, to match the doorpanels and the rest of the interior.

Cleansed the grille and mounted the headlightbuckets

Mounted the headlightbuckets; not completely satisfied with the new finish: I think I will have them zinqued again, because they don't look original enough to me. I have 3 complete grilles with headlightbezels; took the nicest ones and started polishing them with grid 1000, grid 2000 and some polishpaste. After that, some of the parts need to be painted. Will look tits again.

New doorpanels arrived. After 14 months.

The new doorpanels arrived semi-finished; the upper steel part of the old panels had to be taken out, and mounted in the new doorpanels. ( SMS doesn't reproduce the steel plates ) I asked my dad to handle this detailed job. He transferred the plates, glued on the vinyl, and look..what a result he got!!! Thanks dad!!

I WALK THE ( brake ) LINE

Buddy Antoon gave me some proportional valves and Emiel Maas USA Cars provided a bunch-o-nipples to mount the brakelines to the proportional valve and mastercilinder. Now....I walk the (brake)line

Rear wheel-hub-a-dub

The rear wheelstuds needed to be replaced; They are pressed in the wheelhub. I cut off the threaded end, and pressed them out of the hub. Installed new threaded bolts, which I ordered at Ze Moparzhop in Zjermany.

needed some extra shims to set the rear-axle endplay

I swapped the worn 741-pumpkin with a later style 489 suregrip casing. The latter has a wider thrustblock, so the driveshaftbearings needed some extra shimming. I made my own shims of 2.5 mm thick steel plates, a drillingmachine and some sparetime. Works like a champ.

Take-A-Brake

New brake-stuff came in last week. So no take-a-brake this week!!!

Got a small project in between fixin' Peebles. A friend of mine offered me his 1983 Suzuki GSX 1100 ES, vintage sportsbike. 22378 km on the odo..been idle in a garage for 19 years. Couldn't pass this one up, had to take it. It needed a good service and a carb-cleanup, but she's running like a scalded dog again. And next week...on to Peebles again.

BEING CANCER-FREE FOR 2 YEARS!! A BIG YYEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAWWW

This week is my 2nd anniversary. The celebration of being cancer-free for 2 years. Stage 4-A advanced coloncancer. It was a bumpy ride, but living life to the fullest again.

Me and my dad started working on the car, finally....the build-up begins!! Glued the trunklid-rubber, placed the trunklid, restored the rear lights, polished the rear bumper ( original chrome okay ) etc etc
